Delete your account
Last updated 23 September 2026
This page is for deleting your RecipeGo account, and with it everything you have saved. RecipeGo is made by Taralia (Taralia LLC). There are two ways to do it — in the app, which is immediate, or by writing to us, which is there for when you cannot sign in. If you only want to get rid of part of what you have saved, you can do that without closing your account — see Delete only some of it.
On this page
1. Delete it in the app
The fastest route. Nothing is queued and nobody reviews it — the account is gone when you confirm.
- Open RecipeGo and sign in.
- Go to Settings → Data & export.
- Under Danger zone, tap Delete my account.
- Read the list of what you are about to lose, then confirm.
The screen offers to export everything as JSON before you go ahead. It is worth a tap — see below.
2. Delete it by email
If you cannot sign in — a lost password, a phone you no longer have, an email address you no longer control — write to us and we will do it for you.
Send a message to contact@recipego.taralia.com with “Delete my RecipeGo account” as the subject.
Send it from the email address the account uses if you possibly can, because that is what proves the account is yours. If you cannot, say so in the message and tell us what the address was — we will find another way to check, and we would rather take an extra step than delete the wrong person's recipes.
We reply within 30 days, and in practice within a few days. You will get a message confirming the deletion once it is done.
3. Delete only some of it
You do not have to close your account to get rid of something. Anything in your library can be deleted on its own, from inside the app, and it is removed from our servers when you do it — there is nothing to request and nobody to ask:
- A recipe — open it and choose Delete recipe.
- A photograph you added, keeping the recipe — Remove photo on the same menu. The file itself is deleted, not just unlinked.
- A cookbook — Delete cookbook. The recipes inside it stay in your library.
- Notes, ratings, cook history, meal plans and grocery list items — delete or clear each one where it appears.
If you would rather we did it, or you want something removed that the app has no button for, write to contact@recipego.taralia.com and say what you want deleted. Same address as above, same 30 days — and your account stays exactly as it is.
Before you delete your account
Cancel your subscription before you delete the account. If you subscribe to RecipeGo Pro, the subscription belongs to your Google Play or Apple account, not to us, and deleting your RecipeGo account does not cancel it or stop it renewing. We cannot cancel it for you.
On Android: open the Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, choose RecipeGo and cancel. On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions, choose RecipeGo and cancel.
If you have already deleted the account and a payment has gone out, write to us at contact@recipego.taralia.com and we will help you sort it out with the store.
Export your library if you want to keep it. Deletion cannot be undone, and we hold no backup of your account that we could restore from afterwards. Settings → Data & export gives you the whole library as a JSON file — every recipe with its ingredients, steps, tags and source link, plus your cookbooks, notes, plans and lists. It is free, and you do not need to be a subscriber.
What account deletion removes
All of it, permanently, and not merely deactivated or hidden:
- Your account and sign-in details
- Every recipe you have saved, with its ingredients, steps, ratings and source
- Every photograph you uploaded, removed from our file storage as well as from your recipes
- Your cookbooks and tags
- Your private notes and your cook history
- Your meal plans and grocery lists
- Your profile — display name, units, dietary preferences, allergens and language
- Your subscription record and any remaining import allowance
What is kept, and why
Three things outlive the account. None of them is your library, and none of them identifies you.
- Billing records, where the law requires us to keep them for tax and accounting. They record that a payment happened. Nothing from your library is attached to them.
- The shared import cache. When anyone imports a recipe from a public web address, we keep the structured result against that address so the next person does not pay to read the same page again. An entry contains the recipe as published at that address, nothing about you, and no way to tell who imported it. This is explained in full in our Privacy Policy.
- Recipes other people saved from a link you shared. When someone saves a recipe you shared, they get their own copy, including their own copy of the photograph. It is theirs, it lives in their library, and deleting your account does not reach into it — just as their deleting their account does not affect yours.
Everything above is covered in more detail in our Privacy Policy and our Data safety page. If anything here is unclear, or you want to check what we hold before deciding, write to contact@recipego.taralia.com — a real person reads it.
